Important
Note for those using the RPI Authority
software: When I first installed
it, it didn't start up properly. Instead, it ran
in the background and used more and more RAM,
causing my PC to freeze.
To avoid this, make sure you have the latest
version of the .net
framework installed on your computer. Then
open your task manager before running RPI for the
first time so you can check to make sure it isn't
eating up all your RAM.
Or, just use the free MozCheck tool I
mention in my report below that will do the same
thing, only faster and easier.
Building a Youtube channel with high authority in the eyes
of Google gives all the videos on that channel a big
advantage when it comes to ranking medium to high
competition keywords.
The system outlined here is simple. The key is to repeat
these simple tasks daily until your channel has higher
authority than your competitors' channels have.
Authority is created through links, and this system is to
build authority by commenting on Youtube videos that have
high authority on both the video view pages and the
channel for these videos.
Every time you post a comment on a video, Youtube creates
a link back to your YT channel from that video page.
I bought resale rights to a program that helps you build
authority to your Youtube channel called Rank Power Index.
This RPI authority software is included in your
download.
However, there's a better way to go about this using some
free tools instead of the included RPI software. The
strategy is still powerful and I'll include that info
below, but first let me give you an alternative technique,
tools, resources and recommendations.
The RPI authority software checks Moz.com to find the
authority of web pages, specifically Youtube video view
pages and channel pages. The issue is, the RPI software
only checks one URL at a time.
We're going to use two FREE tools to check multiple URLs:
1. Link
Gopher - This is a FREE FireFox plugin that scrapes
the links on a web page and gives us a list of the URLs.
2. MozCheck - this is
a free tool from Moz.com that let's you enter a list of
URLs and returns the authority of each page.
Watch this quick 3 minute
video to see how Link Gopher works:
To start, pick a general keyword phrase and build a list
of 6-12 sub-keywords that are most relevant to the niche
that will be the focus of your channel.
For example, if your main keyword was "dog training", your
keyword list may look something like:
dog training
dog training basics
dog training commands
dog training equipment
dog training for beginners
dog training expert
dog training tricks
dog training tips
dog training exercises
Do a search in Youtube for each of your keywords using
Firefox with the Link Gopher URL extractor installed.
After each search, you'll want to make two lists of
keywords:
One for the ranked video URLs - Filter using: watch
Another for the channel URLs - Filter using: user
When extracting the URLs, use the option in Link Gopher to
filter the results. Every Youtube video URL contains the
text string "watch", so using this as a filter will give
you a list of URLs to the videos listed in the YT search
results.
Now, use Link Gopher with the filter as "user" to scrape
the URLs of the channels for each video in the search
results.
Create two text documents, one for videos URLs and one for
channel URLs.
Depending on the keyword, you'll want to do this for the
first 2-3 pages of the search results for each keyword,
building a list of 100-250 URLs for videos, and about 100
URLs for channels.
Once you've built your two lists of URLs, be sure to check
for, and remove duplicate URLs. You don't want to waste
your CheckMoz quota checking the same URLs twice.
Most text editors (other than Note Pad) have the ability
to remove duplicate lines.
After removing any dupes, run the URLs through CheckMoz to
find the URLs with the highest authority. Note that
CheckMoz reports the "Domain Authority, or DA. Since all
of the URLs are on the Youtube.com domain, just ignore
this number as it will be the same for all the URLs in
both lists.
Instead, pay attention to the "Page Authority" (PA) as
reported by CheckMoz.
Sometimes CheckMoz doesn't report authority stats for
every URL, I'm not sure why. Hopefully this will be fixed
before you use it. If you have URLs without info, you can
do two things:
1. Ignore the URLs with no info...I usually recommend
this.
2. Run the URLs with no data again, adding only 6 at a
time.
I generally don't worry about those without any info,
especially if I build a big list of URLs in previous
steps.
While it's good to know the authority of all the videos
we'll be competing against, our main goal is to find a
number of videos with the high Page Authority for us to
comment on.
Remember, each time we comment we automatically create a
link back to our own YT channel. And by commenting on high
videos with high Page Authority, we can siphon that
authority to our own channel, which will pass it on to the
videos on our channel.
Using this method, not only will you be posting comments
on high authority pages, by using the search results for a
variety of related keywords, you'll also be posting on
relevant videos...a double dose of video SEO.
Using Camouflage and Mixing It Up
You'll probably be tempted to rush out and start
commenting as much as you can, as fast as you can.
Don't.
If you rush things and look like you're simply trying to
"game" Youtube, there's a chance your comments will be
"ghosted". This means that you'll see your comments, but
no one else will. It's Youtube's way of tricking you into
thinking you're accomplishing your objective, when you're
really not.
Instead, you need to make your comments look natural and
make 3-7 comments a day, over a period of time, usually a
few weeks.
Make sure you watch the videos BEFORE taking any action.
We can still be smart and efficient. Use the videos with
low authority to watch the videos and then:
Sometimes like
Sometimes dislike - but only when a video is truly
bad.
Hit the "Back" button in your browser after 20-90
seconds.
Sometimes subscribe
Sometimes do 2 or 3 of the above
Sometimes do none of the above
On the videos with high authority, sometimes (most of the
time) create a new comment. Once in a while, reply to
someone else's comment, particularly if they ask a
question.
Either way, make sure you've watched the video and make a
friendly, positive comment that's relevant to the video.
You want your comment to "stick" and be approved, not
reported as spam. This is NOT the time to be a troll.
Not only are you creating links to your channel from high
authority channels, Youtube will see you are active and
may well reward you for your effort.
In summary, use the high authority video URLs for comments
and the low authority URLs for camouflage.
Tip: Don't think of high authority channels always as
competition. Instead, realize that these folks can be
future partners and approach building your presence on
Youtube with this concept in mind. Your goal is to
secretly beat them with higher authority while being
friendly and open to helping each other out.
DoFollow in comments to social media accounts
Subscribe to high authority channels. While the main goal
of this technique is to build authority to our own Youtube
channels, good comments on popular videos can drive people
to your channel.
Internal Linking - Links to other pages on Youtube are
"dofollow".
Links added in video descriptions are nofollow. Links in
comments appear to be dofollow.
Add links to your own resources in comments on your
videos, especially your social media accounts.
Link silos are a link strategy. They are generally thought
of as a way to interlink pages on a web site or blog to
maximize SEO benefits. We can apply the same strategy to
our YT videos. Think of all the video view pages on the
same YT channel as a "web site". We can add links in the
descriptions of our videos to our other videos, pushing
authority to those video pages.
Every video on your Youtube channel should link to at
least two other videos on the channel, and should be
linked to from at least two other videos on the channel.
To add a link to other videos, simply add the full URL to
the other video(s) in the description. Be sure to include
the https part of the URL so that the link is clickable
with will be followed by Youtube and Google.
A good strategy is to create a "default" for all your
uploads, adding URLs to your most 3-4 important videos on
your channel in the description of the default. Think of
the default as a "base template" that will be used every
time you upload a new video.
You will still want to add custom text for each video you
upload, but by having some URLs in your default
description, these URLs will be automatically added to the
description of every video you upload from then on. Once
you add URLs to your "money" videos in your default, every
time you upload a new video, you will be automatically
increasing authority to your money videos.
An under-used strategy is to place URLs/links in the
comments of your own videos. It's interesting that
URLs/links in video descriptions are "nofollow", but
URLs/links placed in the comments are "dofollow".
It's possible to put URLs in the comments of videos by
other people, but I generally don't recommend this because
you may come off as a spammer. I know I don't allow anyone
to place links in the comments for my videos.
Try adding a few links in the comments of your own videos
to the social accounts used for the channel. In other
words, link to the other sites that link back to your YT
channel.
Free Tools:
Link
Gopher - FireFox plugin that scrapes the URLs from a
web page.
IFTTT.com - IFTTT means
"if this, then that" and is a free site that can automate
getting links from some of the major authority sites. For
example, if you add a new video to your Youtube channel,
then post a link to that video on your Twitter and Tumblr
accounts.
For more on using IFTTT with Youtube, see my Ring of Fire
report, included in your Tube Tuel download.
List
of Free DoFollow Social Bookmarking Sites - You
don't have to use every resource on this list, but adding
a link to your YT channel and a video or two using a few
of these resources is a good idea.
Recommended Paid Authority Boosters
Below, in Cliff Carrigan's strategy outline, he suggests
buying quality links from Fiverr or other source.
None of these paid suggestions is required, but they can
really speed up and boost your results. So, if you have a
little money to invest, here's my suggestions:
Mass
Planner - Mass Planner is a social automation tool.
Post your videos on the major social media sites and use
Mass Planner to build friends and followers on your social
accounts. This will build links and if your videos are of
decent quality, you'll increase your video views
naturally. Use IFTTT to post your YT videos to your social
accounts and use Mass Planner to build friends and
followers to these accounts.
Domain
Hunter Gatherer - Highly recommended for
building authority to your Youtube channel(s). DHG will
help in two ways. The first is finding expired domains
that already have authority. Placing a link to your YT
channel and embedding a video on the home page of a domain
with good authority is a great way to increase the
authority to your YT channel.
The drawbacks are you need to pay for the domain names you
find, then you need to use different hosting services for
each, along with some good camouflage, to get the maximum
benefit from each domain.
Another benefit of Domain Hunter Gatherer is it has the
ability to find expired social media accounts that have
links and authority. Sometimes, for a variety of reasons
people delete their social accounts and you can then
register them for yourself. And some of these social
accounts already have decent authority.
Pick picky and don't register just any social account
Domain Hunter Gather finds. Let it do the work to find the
really good ones. You'll need to let DHG run for a while
and search for these social accounts, but when it finds
them, it's like finding little nuggets of gold. Just
register the social account for yourself, then add a link
to your YT channel and either embed one of your YT videos
or add a link.
Source Wave
Market - It's like Fiverr in that you can outsource
services, but I think it's better than Fiverr for SEO
related gigs. I suggest doing a search for "IFTTT" and
check out gigs that will set up an IFTTT "ring of fire"
for your Youtube channel. You should be able to get a
pretty good gig for about $25 that will set up IFTTT to
build links on authority social sites on auto-pilot for
your YT channel.
For more on using IFTTT for Youtube, see my Toob Ring of
Fire report.
Also, check the Source Wave Market for "dofollow" links
and point them to your YT channel as well as your "money"
videos.
Note: I bought the rights to the
following sales page and software from Cliff
Carrigan. The sales page outlines a powerful
strategy for building authority to your Youtube
channels. I posted the strategy from Cliff
Carrigan below.
However, IMO it's easier to use the free MOZCheck
and Link Gopher tools I linked to above than
Cliff's RPI software used in the strategy below.
The RPI software is available in your download
package, but I think you'll agree it's easier to
use MozCheck with the Link Gopher FireFox plugin
because it collects multiple URLs at once and the
MozCheck tool will check the authority of multiple
URLs at once.
Use my techniques and resources above with Cliff's
strategy outlined below.
From Cliff Carrigan:
"RANKING VIDEOS IN YOUTUBE AND GOOGLE HAS EVOLVED
BUT MOST VIDEO MARKETERS HAVEN'T EVOLVED WITH IT"
Today I am going to introduce a secret software that I
built and use daily. It's sole purpose in life is to very
quickly tell me what I am really up against if I want to
beat a specific video or an entire channel. You're about
to learn how to rank for high-traffic, high-competition
keywords using a special software program and a bit of
know-how!
Level The Playing Field...
The average video marketer tends to look at likes,
subscribers, views, backlinks, seo and so on, all of that
is fine if you are on a level playing field with the
target video or channel you're trying to beat, but means
absolutely nothing if you aren't.
Recently a very well known and very respected full time
video marketer connected with me on skype. He was at his
wits end.Completely frustrated. He proceeded to show me
the URL to the video he is trying to beat, gives me the
keyword he is targeting and then gives me the URL to his
own video and asks "what am I doing wrong man?"
Without looking at his video or the video he was trying to
beat, I simply fired up my RPI Check software and
instantly knew the answer. Opened both videos in my
browser and looked...
He had far better seo He had far more visitors, likes, and
so on. He even had far better backlinks to his video. From
his perspective (the pro video marketer) he was beating
that other video on every level, yet he wasn't ranking at
all.
The other guy was beating him without mercy, even though
his video listing was garbage compared to the pro
marketer. Cohere is a top level professional getting his
butt handed to him by a complete nobody. A person who
wasn't a marketer stall.
So I Introduced Him To One Of
My Secret Custom Software Tools!
And It keeps me an advantage over almost all other video
marketers! I have a pretty big and bold reputation in the
video marketing niche. People hate it when I enter their
niche because they know I am unstoppable.
Once I set my sights on a niche, no matter what niche it
is, I end up owning that niche. I go in and basically
dominate it so hard that I end up creating multiple
accounts that looks like competitors but in reality, it is
all me.
I Absolutely Swarm The Target Niche.
I am able to do this so easily and with so much
consistency because I know in advance exactly what it
ingoing to take for me to overtake each individual
competitor.There is no guess work.
And 100% of the time, the absolute very first thing I do
is use RPI Check in order to see what I am really up
against. Basically what RPI Check does is
determines the authority of the video I am targeting.
It tells me exactly what I need to know in order to put
myself on a level playing field with the person I want to
beat.
It pulls data from Moz, then finds it's active social
footprint combining multiple social sites that it has a
presence on, and then it crunches those numbers for me and
returns a result between 0 and 100.
0 means easy to beat, (I have never seen a 100) and 70
means it is going to be a pretty massive undertaking to
achieve my goal... Very doable, but it is going to take
some time and work.
For example, if my video has an RPI of 1 and my
competitors video has an RPI of 47, then it doesn't matter
how many views, social, backlinks, and seo I throw at it,
that guy is still going to beat me. He is going to beat me
because we are not on the same playing field.
This allows me to know instantly whether or not I want to
pursue that keyword. For example, if that niche isn't
likely to make me a pretty good bit of money, then I'm not
going to spend the effort to get into it.
On the other hand, if that niche is known to be a cash
cow, then I already know in advance what it is going to
take to get myself into that niche in a very big and
visible way.
Within seconds of finding my potential competitor I know
what I need to do to beat him... I'm not shooting in the
dark like everyone else. I know exactly what I need to
do!"
Now You Know... Now you know how to instantly determine if
you are on the same playing field as your competitor.
Everything after that is just a routine. Just a series of
steps and actions just like all of the basic on/off page
seo is for ranking a video. None of it is difficult at
all... It's all just a simple series of steps. In fact, I'm
going to walk you through exactly what it takes to
increase your RPI on your channel or any video.
Remember though, you are always in a much stronger
position if you focus on getting your channel RPI up
before you start worrying about any individual video
RPI.
Example- If you have a video with high RPI but a channel
with low RPI, but I have a channel with high RPI and a
video with low RPI, then I know I can easily beat you. I
know because it is much easier to increase any video RPI
when you have high channel RPI than it is to doit the
other way around.
OK, so how do you increase your RPI? Simple really. Just
do some smart and targeted commenting. Lets say you want
to focus your account on the survival niche. Here are the
steps you take...
You'll quickly lose all of the people that you currently
consider competitors. While they are still trying to rank
for long tail keywords you'll be in a completely different
league than they are. You'll be ranking fairly short tail
keywords on demand even easier than they are ranking the
long tail stuff.
And as a bonus, you also know what you need to do any time
you want to rank for a crazy high competition short tail
keyword.
Building Authority Using Expired Web 2.0 Accounts
- From Kurt
Melvin
Here's a powerful strategy for both Youtube video
marketing and SEO in general. You may have heard of
"private blog networks" which are a websites built using
expired domain names. Basically, marketers research and
find domain names that other people didn't renew for
whatever reason that already have links and authority
pointed to them.
By building networks of sites, each with strong linking
profiles already in place, the new owners of these
domains can build sites that leverage the existing links
for SEO purposes.
But here's a similar strategy that can be just as
powerful, and that's finding Web 2.0 accounts that also
have links and authority. For example, with some effort
and research you can find Tumblr accounts that have a
good number of links pointing to them.
These Web 2.0 sites with links and authority are great
for ranking Youtube videos, as well as pointing link
juice to money sites and other resources. Find a good
Web 2.0 account that's available with a strong link
profile and embed your YouTube videos and/or create
links to your YouTube videos and channels to give your
videos an "unfair" advantage.
These are Web 2.0 accounts that people have used in the
past, but for a variety of reasons they are now
available and you can register them for yourself now.
You can use Scrapebox to find expired Web 2.0 accounts,
but it's a little complicated and you can only research
one site at a time.
I've been using a program called Domain Hunter Gatherer
(DMG) to find some really potent Web 2.0 accounts. DMG
has some good expired domain features, but I really like
the Web 2.0 finder.
With Web 2.0 accounts, you don't have to spend money
on domain names.
You also don't have to worry about hosting costs and
the hassles of removing all the potential footprints
so your private blog network isn't discovered and
de-indexed by Google.
IMO, building a huge network of Web 2.0 accounts with
links and authority already created is one of the most
powerful marketing strategies you can use in today's IM
environment. And Domain Hunter Gatherer makes is fast
and easy.
Here's the Web 2.0 sites Domain Hunter Gatherer
checks for available acounts:
Tumblr
Twitter
Wordpress
Blogsport
Weebly
Typepad
Blog.com
OverBlog
Svbtle
Webs
LiveJournal
DrupalGardens
Tripod
Jigsy
Jimdo
Wikidot
NewsVine
Postagon
SnapPages
HubPages
Sapo
Before you get started you'll need:
Proxies - You'll probably want to use 10 or so
proxies. You'll need these because Domain Hunter
Gatherer performs a good number of search engine
queries using your choice of Google, Bing and Yahoo to
find a bunch of Web 2.0 accounts for various
platforms.
Content - To maximize the power of these 2.0
accounts, you'll want solid content. It doesn't have
to be great but it can't be spun gibberish either and
you'll want it to be unique. You'll want to have
relevant content ready so you'll be able to post it as
soon as possible after you create a valuable 2.0
account. Note that the great thing about Tumblr
accounts is they don't need much written content. Just
embed your YouTube videos and add 50-100 words, along
with a link back to your channel and/or video,
remembering to vary your anchor text.
Moz Account - Moz gives you a free account that
checks the links to each Web 2.0 as well as gives it
an authority score. You'll need to hook this up to
Domain Hunter Gatherer to check the power of each
available Web 2.0 account.
A good list of relevant keywords. You''ll want at
least 100 keywords related to each niche. You probably
don't want to run all your keywords at once, maybe in
groups of about 25.
Be Patient
Your Domain Hunter Gatherer strategy should be
on-going. New 2.0 accounts become available over time.
Keep checking. You're panning for gold, looking for the
nuggets.
At first you'll probably be a little excited and try to
snatch up every account that looks like it has a little
bit of potential. Instead, I suggest you be really picky
and let Domain Hunter Gatherer do all the "grunt work".
One really strong 2.0 account is worth 5-10 mediocre
accounts. Save your time (and content) and just grab the
"cream of the crop". Look for Web 2.0 accounts
with at least 20+ links and good PAGE Authority.
Then do a quick check of the links to see if they are
legit.
Also, don't pay any attention to DOMAIN Authority,
as all the accounts will be on authority domains. We
only want 2.0 accounts that have good authority
themselves.
Note that Domain Hunter Gatherer will show some pages
that really aren't accounts. For example,
https://twitter.com/terms obviously isn't an available
account, but will show up in your results. It's not a
big deal, just be aware.
If you are serious about taking your Youtube marketing
(and SEO) to the next level, you really should be
building your own collection of authority Web 2.0
accounts and Domain Hunter Gather to your tool kit.
Domain Hunter Gatherer is only $17 a month and gives
you a 7 day trial for only $3.50(?) to start things off.
There's also a very powerful expired domain module
that's more expensive, but I haven't tried it myself so
I can't tell you if it's a good value or not. It does
also have a 7 day trial for $17 if you want to check it
out. I believe this includes the Web 2.0 module too, but
check it out to be sure.
Adding high Page Authority Web 2.0 accounts is a very
robust and inexpensive way to build even more authority
to your YouTube channels and videos.
